Mothers’ Union

The Mothers’ Union is an international organisation for all (not just mothers, not just women!).  Information about their vision, mission, values, aims and objectives can be found here: https://www.mothersunion.org/
Information about the Mothers’ Union in Suffolk can be found here: http://www.musuffolk.org.uk/

Barham and Claydon Mothers’ Union is a fellowship group of like-minded people who meet together on the second Tuesday of each month at 2pm in Barham Church Hall.
Each meeting starts with a Bible reading and prayers for the worldwide MU.
We have speakers on topical subjects, for example: How to recognise fraudsters on the phone, internet and doorstep callers.
We have supported the Summer of Hope appeal which helps women to train as leaders of self-help parenting groups and start-up business enterprises.

Members make sandwiches for the Soup Kitchen, help at the Young Families Group and arranged a village afternoon Tea and Bingo session to bring people out of their homes after the pandemic.

The future will see us exploring the way forward as we re-imagine Mothers’ Union.

Henley Mothers’ Union meets on the second Monday of each month at 7.30pm in Barham Church Hall (IP6 0PT, parking available).  We have speakers and activities which help us to develop our understanding of, and support, areas related to MU aims.  Recent and forthcoming events include: speakers from Lighthouse Women’s Aid, Prison Chaplaincy and Brave Futures; practical support for Suffolk Refugee Support, Tools With A Mission and Lighthouse Women’s Aid; cake sales and a musical evening raising money for MU projects; a Lent Course and Book Group.

Visitors and new members are always very welcome, and you don’t need to live or worship in Henley or the wider benefice – we have members who live in Ipswich and neighbouring villages, and who attend different churches.
